About CSU

Introduction

Columbus State University’s deep-rooted commitment to academic excellence in the classroom, hands-on learning opportunities in the community, and a supportive campus culture position us well to provide a solid foundation for our students’ lives and successful futures. Top-notch facilities, ideal class sizes and exceptional faculty and staff—along with our diverse student organizations, lively campus events and championship-level athletics—make our university the perfect choice for students seeking to maximize their educational experience.

Academic Success

Choosing Columbus State is a valuable investment in knowledge, experience and confidence that will have a lasting effect on your future. The university offers one of the most affordable educational options in the Southeast. This is especially true for students who use Georgia’s HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships, receive university scholarships or maximize their military tuition benefits.

Here, you can explore a variety of degrees, programs, minors and certificates in over 100 undergraduate and graduate academic programs across fine and performing arts, business, education, health professions, humanities, social sciences and STEM fields. Other academic experiences, like the Honors College, Servant Leadership, ROTC and study abroad, enable students to personalize their college journey, making it both challenging and career-oriented.

While most other universities offer academic advisors and career counselors, you’ll be paired on day one with an academic coach and a career coach who will guide you through your studies and help you turn what you learn into a career. Both specialize in your chosen major, ensuring you select the best classes and pursue the most valuable experiences to become career-ready upon graduation.

Campuses AND Facilities

Students have two distinct campus environments where they learn, live and lead. Our traditional Main Campus covers more than 130 acres and features the Whitley Clock Tower quadrangle and other large green spaces where students can study, relax and play. It’s also the place to prepare for your next test or research your next essay in the Schwob Memorial Library before meeting friends in the newly remodeled Davidson Student Center, working out at the Student Recreation Center or cheering on our 13 NCAA Division II athletics teams during a home game.

Our urban RiverPark Campus is in the heart of downtown Columbus, surrounded by the city’s top shopping and dining options—and offering the best views of the Chattahoochee River. It also hosts some of the region’s finest art venues—university stages and galleries where our art, music and theatre students learn and showcase their talents.

No matter which campus you call home, each offers dining and student housing options. Free CSU-provided shuttle service runs during the day, evening, and weekends to keep you connected between the two so you can enjoy the best of both! A dedicated University Police Department provides ongoing patrols and safety resources on both campuses, allowing you to focus on living fully and safely.

When you choose Columbus State, the city of Columbus becomes your classroom. Courses across all our majors infuse local history, expertise, arts, culture and tourism into your learning experience. From the newly redesigned River core curriculum for first-year students to internship opportunities as you prepare to graduate, we leverage our strategic community partnerships to provide you with an unmatched college experience here at CSU.
